Verizon has facilitated new 5G revenue opportunities by expanding the scope of its homegrown network APIs with a deal with Ericsson-owned Vonage that benefits developers.
Verizon said in a statement that the two companies signed a memorandum of understanding to use the carrier’s 5G network APIs on Vonage’s CPaaS platform and agreed to co-develop new APIs. .
Access to APIs through Vonage’s platform will enable the developer community to create new use cases for the enterprise space, which Verizon and Vonage say will improve the overall experience and brand loyalty. .
The deal will allow Verizon to gradually monetize its network assets.
The company says its API acts as “an organization that connects data with developers, enterprises, applications, and a rich set of network services.”
