Ericsson and Turkcell have achieved a milestone in the automation of various functions within Ericsson’s dual-mode 5G core solution. This demonstration took place in a test environment hosted on Red Hat OpenShift, a hybrid cloud application platform powered by Kubernetes.
This achievement marks an important step in improving network operational efficiency through Turkcell’s network operation automation. This improves network quality, accelerates the introduction of the latest features, and reduces time to market. The test builds on the live deployment of Ericsson’s dual-mode 5G core solution on Turkcell’s network and addresses emerging use cases.
Ericsson, Turkcell, and Red Hat worked closely together to utilize the Turkcell test environment and leverage existing validation in Red Hat OpenShift with Ericsson’s solution and automation toolset. In particular, Ericsson’s Evolved Virtual Network Function Manager facilitated the onboarding and hosting of dual-mode 5G core solutions within this environment.
This demonstration demonstrated the delivery of software changes to Turkcell’s CI/CD (continuous integration/continuous deployment) environment. We introduced automated processes such as ingesting, preparing, upgrading, validating, and validating software from Ericsson products. The partnership highlights advanced capabilities in network management and reveals tangible benefits for Turkcell.
Turkcell also tested Ericsson automation toolsets, including Evolved Virtual Network Function Manager (EVNFM), Automated Acceptance Tests (AAT), and Core Network Operations Manager (CNOM). These toolsets address customized testing and validation requirements within CI/CD pipelines and ensure effective lifecycle management of 5G SA (standalone) networks.
Vehbi Cagrı Gangor, Chief Network Technology Officer at Turkcell, is confident in the potential of CI/CD automation in communications networks. He highlighted the role of partnerships in accelerating Turkcell’s network transformation and highlighted continued efforts to enhance network automation capabilities using cloud-native technologies.
Issur Yalcin, Vice President Ericsson Middle East and Africa and Head of Ericsson Turkiye, highlighted the demand for agility among communications service providers deploying 5G services. He highlighted the importance of Ericsson’s dual-mode 5G core with automation capabilities that will enable Turkcell to differentiate its services and deliver enhanced value to customers.
Honore LaBourdette, acting senior vice president of global communications operations and vice president of communications partner ecosystem at Red Hat, emphasized the importance of infrastructure flexibility and openness in enabling advanced 5G services. did.
