Motorola has a strong presence in the ultra-low-cost smartphone market, with phones like the Moto G Power 5G offering basic features for a few hundred dollars. This year’s version, Moto G Power 5G (2024), is expected to be released in just a few weeks. Ahead of its impending launch, MSPowerUser claims to have exclusive renderings of a new colorway of Motorola’s budget smartphone.
If the renderings are accurate, Motorola will release the Moto G Power 5G (2024) in two colors: Orchid Tint and Outer Space. This follows Motorola’s trend of offering budget phones in one light and one dark color. Last year’s Moto G Power 5G (2023) is available in Mineral Black and Bright White colors.
Orchid tint is a bright shade with some pink in it. That would certainly explain the naming scheme “Orchid”. However, based on the renders, the pink colorway looks very muted. From a distance, it will probably look like a typical white or light gray.
At least from the renders, the Outer Space looks like a pretty standard black colorway. You might think that with Motorola adding more colors to the Bright White option, it would mean that the Mineral Black would also change a bit. By all accounts, Outer Space is Motorola’s standard black color and looks like the new name for the Moto G Power 5G (2024).
Beyond the colors, we now know a little more about the Moto G Power (2024) thanks to a leak from November 2023. Motorola may switch to a flatback for this year’s smartphones. There’s a big chin at the bottom of the display, but the display is said to grow to 6.7 inches.
MSPowerUser’s renders also suggest that the Moto G Power (2024) will receive 30W fast charging support, up from the 10W of the Moto G Power (2023). Beyond that, many of the Moto G Power (2024) specs are still a mystery.
However, this budget smartphone will likely stick to similar pricing to the Moto G Power (2023). The phone retails for $300 and its best feature is multi-day battery life. Given the charging spec upgrades coming to the Moto G Power (2024) and, of course, the name, battery life could once again be a key feature.
Motorola launched the Moto G Power (2023) last April, so the Moto G Power (2024) might not be far away.
