Taylor Swift makes Grammy history as female musicians sweep the top gong
Celine Dion announced that Taylor Swift won Album of the Year at the 2024 Grammy Awards.
Fans are defending Taylor Swift after she was accused of being rude to Celine Dion at the Grammy Awards in a viral video.
Yesterday (February 4) was a big night for Taylor Swift and Celine Dion. Taylor made Grammy history by becoming the first artist to win Album of the Year four times at the ceremony. Meanwhile, Celine made a surprise appearance at the show. This was one of Celine’s first public appearances since being diagnosed with stiff person syndrome in 2022.
Celine presented Taylor with the award for Album of the Year. However, the moment sparked some backlash online as Taylor appeared to ignore Celine on stage, and a video of the exchange subsequently went viral, with many criticizing Taylor.

When Celine announced that Taylor had won the award, Taylor ran on stage, visibly shocked, and began hugging all of her collaborators. Taylor accepted the Grammy Award from Celine before giving her speech. But she doesn’t seem to approve of Celine and now people are criticizing Celine.
One person wrote: “Not trying to be a hater, but it’s insane how he showed up so triumphantly in public for the first time in so long and was handed a Grammy by Celine Dion without making much eye contact. It’s not sad,” he tweeted.
Another wrote: “Taylor doesn’t even approve of Celine Dion and my spirit doesn’t match. Girl, that’s Celine Dion.”

My biggest disappointment at the Grammys was that Taylor Swift won Album of the Year and hugged everyone involved, but then Celine Dion handed her the trophy as if she were the hat check girl. The thing is, they didn’t seem to understand how great Celine was. Just standing there.

However, fans are now coming to Taylor’s defense, pointing out that she probably just got caught up in the moment and meant no malice. Just before accepting her award, Taylor was photographed standing up and clapping for Celine.
Taylor and Celine also posed for a photo together right after Taylor won the award.
