The ball fell far outside the off-stump and the batsman followed it up with a big slop sweep over midwicket. However, the ball suddenly swerved and crashed into the stumps, leaving the batsman completely bewildered. Social media users quickly dubbed it the new “ball of the century.” The term was used to describe Shane Warne’s dismissal of England’s Mike Gatting in June 1993. Even international cricketers joined in the conversation and the video garnered a lot of attention. .
Meanwhile, Australia’s dominance in major cricket competitions continued on Sunday as they defeated India by 79 runs in the U-19 World Cup final at South Africa’s Willowmoor Park.
Australia’s senior men’s team won the 2023 World Test Championship and Cricket World Cup, defeating India in the final in both competitions.
