It appears that some retired NBA players are finding success and thriving in the podcast field. There are also players like Jeff Teague and Gilbert Arenas, to name a few. Why do you think that’s the case? Nate Robinson: As a player, and I can probably speak for every player who’s ever played, there’s a lot of things that the media says about us and a lot of things about us. They were tired of saying things about technology and what we were doing, and they never did it. So now we can be our own media source, which is much better. Because we’ve actually done it, we’ve actually put in the effort, we’ve actually done what we’re talking about. It’s not just about studying, crunching numbers, and just talking about what you think. Because you’re crunching numbers. No, I’ve actually done it and am a student of the game and know what’s going on. And we encourage more players to do it. Because then you will have more opportunities, more work, more knowledge, and more stories to be heard. The players are telling us, but you, the media, aren’t hearing it. They always want to change your words. They always want to make it seem like you said something you didn’t actually say. Now we can be our own sources, we can be the sources, and we love it. Straight from the source, it’s the best at the moment. I don’t watch the news anymore, I watch Sports Center. I go see all my friends talk basketball and I watch all their podcasts. I prefer going to their shows than going to ESPN or other shitty shows. -via HoopsHype / February 14, 2024
