sex and relationships
Sex workers now have to compete with artificial intelligence as the world’s first AI brothel pioneers the future of sex.
At first glance, Cybrothel in Berlin operates like a traditional escort business. Private suites can be booked for a few hours or overnight, and customers choose their companions from a list of enticing names, including Bimbo and Mr. Schmidt.
But the futuristic strength of Berlin’s brothels lies in their workers. At Cybrothel, patrons work with life-sized sex dolls rather than human sex workers.
Bimbo, Kokeshi, and Company cannot move or speak, but clients interact with them in the virtual realm. Put on your VR headset and watch immersive 4D porn featuring your favorite sexbots.
You also have the option to “sext” with a doll AI persona, thanks to a vulgar dedicated AI language model.
Cybrothel is the first company in the world to bring immersive AI to its brothels, with co-owner Mathias Smetana telling news.com.au that his business reacts to touches and conversations in real time. He said he is aiming to develop the next generation of robot dolls. .
AI sex experts said Cybrotel attracted sex industry veterans looking for a more innovative experience, while first-time visitors were drawn to the no-pressure environment.
“If you’re here, the only person who can judge you is yourself,” Smetana said.
“There are a lot of people who have never been exposed to sex work before, who want to try it but are looking for a safe space. Even in the face of performance anxiety, human There is no problem with Cybrotel because we are dealing with sex toys rather than sex toys.”
Smetana said Cybrotel is a pioneer in the evolving sex market. Germany’s sex industry has been in decline in recent years, with the number of registered sex workers down 30% compared to before the pandemic.
“The (traditional) customers will disappear within the next 10 to 15 years,” Smetana said. “So for now, I think the sex industry will move further in the direction of VR. Having sex in the digital world and the physical world at the same time.”
Could this Berlin brothel offer a glimpse into the future of Australia’s own sex industry? Emma Bennett, senior manager at award-winning Townsville brothel Onyx, doesn’t think her Australian customers are open to sci-fi sex.
“What our customers want is human touch and connection. After all, there’s only one type of human sexual interaction, and that’s real!” she said.
Ms Bennett wonders whether Australian customers would be interested in paying for sex without “real skin-to-skin emotion”.
Somatic sexologist Alice Child said Cybrotels’ AI-powered sexual experiences could provide a safe space for people to explore their sexuality.
But a Sydney-based sex educator warned against using AI as a substitute for human intimacy or as a way to avoid facing insecurities.
“A place without judgment is a place without vulnerability, and sex is inherently vulnerable.”
“If you’re afraid of intimacy, avoiding sex long-term (using AI) can take away your ability to have a truly human experience with someone,” she says.
