The partnership aims to develop a common vision for 6G, establish requirements and architectures, identify common interests, and build consensus on globally harmonized standards for 6G. Bharat 6G Alliance is an initiative involving Indian industry, academia, national research institutes and standards bodies. In line with the Bharat 6G mission of the Government of India, it designs, develops and deploys technologies and innovations that provide intelligent and secure solutions that deliver quality life experience to citizens in India and across the globe. Bharat 6G Alliance aims to foster an ecosystem for research, design, development, IPR creation, field testing, security, certification and manufacturing of communication products and solutions, so that India can take its rightful place in the global landscape of purpose-driven, affordable and cutting-edge communication technologies and solutions that serve the global interest.
The 6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association (6G-IA) represents the European industry and research community on next generation networks and services. Its main goal is to strengthen European leadership in 5G and beyond and 6G research, and ensure the full rollout of 5G as outlined in the 5G Action Plan. 6G-IA is engaged in a range of strategic activities including standardization, frequency spectrum management, R&D projects, technical skills development and collaboration with key vertical industry sectors, especially in test development and international cooperation.
The MoU between both the organisations was signed by Mr. NG Subramaniam, Chairman, Bharat 6G Alliance and Dr Colin Willcock, Chairman, 6G-IA. “Bharat 6G Vision further envisages inclusive society-wide digital empowerment with ubiquitous coverage and sustainability at its core to improve the quality of life of the common man. Achieving such empowerment using 6G wireless technologies and enabled applications is the mission of Bharat 6G Alliance. Bharat 6G Alliance is committed to building a network of like-minded organisations across the globe to advance an open and collaborative research agenda among nations, commit resources to contribute to global standards and develop products that meet those rigorous standards. We have already signed a MoU with the NextG Alliance in the US and this MoU with the European Union’s 6G IA with our shared objectives will further enable the development of secure and reliable communication technologies including resilient supply chains. “The MoU with 6G IA is an important step in this direction,” said NG Subramaniam, Chairman, Bharat 6G Alliance.
“6G-IA believes that 6G technology needs to be built collaboratively to develop a single global standard that serves the world. This MoU with Bharat 6G Alliance marks an important step in this effort to link European 6G research activities with Indian 6G research,” said Colin Wilcock, Chairman, 6G-IA.
