The UK is one of many countries with 5G access. Several companies have already launched 5G in the UK, but not in all cities and will continue to expand coverage throughout 2024.
In case you didn’t already know, 5G is a huge improvement over 4G in terms of speed and latency. So many areas of our lives will be improved, including vehicle communications, smart cities, mobile communications, and entertainment.
EEE
Europe’s largest 4G provider and the UK’s largest network operator could become the largest 5G provider. EE launched the network in mid-2019 and 5G is now available to more than 50% of the UK population, with plans to cover the entire country by 2028.
EE’s 5G Wi-Fi service is available on HTC 5G Hub. Data limits range from 50 GB/month to 100 GB/month.

Demonstration experiment at 5G Innovation Center
In addition to the companies listed above that are actively testing and deploying 5G networks, there is the University of Surrey’s 5G/6G Innovation Center in Guildford, Surrey, UK.
This is a testbed where researchers and partners can test and develop any technology that can run on next-generation wireless networks in a real-world environment. Their goal is to test 5G and 6G indoors and outdoors, in urban and rural locations where coverage is difficult, and in places where mobile networks are not yet established.
In 2018, CityFibre and Arqiva announced details of the country’s largest 5G small cell pilot trial in London’s Hammersmith-Fulham Borough.
