AT&T’s low-band 5G network is available in more than 22,000 cities. It also uses a mid-band spectrum to provide a combination of fast speeds and wide coverage.

Here are AT&T’s 5G coverage maps for the continental U.S. and southern Canada as of January 2024.

AT&T

What is AT&T’s 5G network?

AT&T offers three types of service, depending on how far the signal needs to reach. 5G+ uses mmWave or midband spectrum, with the former available in more than 50 cities. This low-band network currently serves more than 285 million people in the United States and is available in more than 22,000 cities and towns.

AT&T’s 5G network is mobile. That means a customer can access the network from anywhere her AT&T service is available. The company will also offer fixed wireless access (FWA) solutions to enable 5G internet at home.

AT&T’s 5G mobile plans aren’t yet available for purchase by the general public, but the company’s 5G Evolution service is available in many regions. 5G Evolution not only enables ultra-fast speeds, but also lays the foundation for 5G deployment.

AT&T 5G plan details

AT&T brands its mmWave and midband network as: 5G+. The nationwide low-band network is called: 5G.

Some unlimited plans support 5G. See AT&T’s 5G Phones for network compatibility.

AT&T 5G Evolution Market

5G Evolution is the term AT&T uses to describe its ultra-fast wireless internet service. Although it’s only available in select locations, you can experience what full-fledged 5G looks like, delivering speeds of up to 400 Mbps in theory (though in real-world situations it’s likely to be around 40 Mbps). (often).

AT&T has upgraded its cell towers to support the 5G evolution. This is not only to give the user faster speeds out of the box, but also to make it easier for him to upgrade to 5G when he is ready. Once the 5G radio is installed, software can be used to drive communications. New features and upgrades.

These are just a few of the 5G Evolution cities supported by AT&T: Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Bridgeport, Buffalo, Chicago, Fresno, Greenville, Hartford, Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Louisville, Memphis, and Nashville. , New Orleans, Oklahoma City, Pittsburgh, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco, Tulsa, and Sacramento.

The company will display a “5GE” logo at the top of some Android and iOS devices to indicate that the device is connected to a 5G Evolution cell tower. However, while 5G evolves, teeth Since it’s faster than LTE, it’s important to know that 5GE is actually just an advanced form of it, commonly referred to as 4G LTE-A.

AT&T’s 5G fixed wireless access service

AT&T offers fixed wireless internet, but not the 5G type. All the cities mentioned above are related to mobile services and not his FWA service that sends the internet to your home.

However, AT&T has been piloting fixed wireless internet in locations such as South Bend, Indiana, Kalamazoo, Michigan, Austin, Texas, and Waco, Texas. One of these deployments saw 5G speeds of over 1 Gbps with latency of less than 20 milliseconds.

AT&T Wireless Broadband is the company’s current AT&T business product offering speeds of up to 100 Mbps. This is one of the components that AT&T says will provide the foundation for customers to upgrade to his AT&T 5G when it becomes available.

AT&T plans to move forward with efforts to provide 5G fixed wireless access to areas currently without broadband service, but specific cities have not been announced. But before we move to 5G, we’ll start with LTE on the Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) spectrum.

In early 2019, the company’s CEO said:It is clear that 5G will serve as a replacement for fixed broadband in the next 3-5 years.“And he is”I am very confident that this will happen. We’re clearly on a mobile-first, standards-based path.”
