houston texas – Are you a victim of the AT&T data breach?
If you are not sure, please check the following method.
If you know, here’s what you should do now, according to Tim Howard, a Houston cybersecurity expert and managing partner at Fortify Experts.
change password
Howard: Please change your password. Change your passwords on all your financial accounts, not just your AT&T account. Accounts related to credit card or banking information.
When data breaches like this happen, and they have happened at many large companies, one of the reasons we need to be aware of these large-scale breaches is: When your data is compromised by shopping at a particular store, using AT&T, etc., cybercriminals take that data, paste it on the dark web, and sell it to the highest bidder. Typically all they keep is your name, email address, and password. Therefore, reusing information such as passwords for different accounts could allow cybercriminals to actually access your regular bank and see if they can log in using your password.
Make sure your password is unique
Howard: Use this password generator that has this huge crazy password in it. Please use it as many times as you like. If you experience such a breach, please go back and press Reset Password. Don’t overthink it.
We have to stop using cute passwords and wanting to use specific passwords. Because we end up putting numbers in there and some things, maybe because of the school we went to or the pets we had. It’s a very good password, so it’s the kind of thing you reuse over and over again.
