El Paso, Texas – Verizon today participated in a groundbreaking ceremony at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. The event marked the start of construction on a new cell tower to be built by Boldin Networks with network service provided by Verizon. The tower will serve military personnel in Texas and New Mexico. The total investment in the project is $1 million. Fort Bliss military families, service members, and visitors will experience improved wireless coverage and enhanced network services as a result of the new infrastructure.
“Verizon supports our military partners through a number of innovative products and services, from 5G deployments, including private 5G, to enterprise infrastructure improvements,” said Martin Maladi, associate director of Verizon’s Department of Defense business. says. “At the heart of our work with the U.S. Department of Defense is improving operational capabilities and improving the quality of life for soldiers and their families living on military installations. That’s exactly what will happen.”
Through AAFES and in partnership with Boldyn Networks, Verizon will stand up 10 macro towers to help provide more robust coverage across the base.

Similar to Verizon’s recent announcement regarding the Helemano Military Reservation in Hawaii, the company is once again collaborating with AAFES on the Fort Bliss effort to install new cellular infrastructure to support morale and well-being and supporting important missions.
Fort Bliss leaders celebrated this milestone during a ceremony attended by Col. Brendan R. Gallagher, the garrison commander. Sergeant Major David N. Sweeney. and Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Gino Hernandez. Also in attendance was Ronnie Rexrode, Senior Vice President, Western Regional Exchange.
