Upcoming Windows 11 feature will allow you to scan QR codes for Wi-Fi connections

Windows 11 24H2 is just around the corner, but the new features included in the previously released Insider Build 26052 are still a hot topic. Microsoft has unveiled the WiFi connectivity feature coming soon to Windows 11. This allows you to scan his QR code with your camera for a seamless connection.

This new “Scan QR code for Wi-Fi connection” feature allows users to join a Wi-Fi network by simply opening the camera app.

Once opened, users will need to obtain the QR code of the Wi-Fi they wish to connect to. Some devices have a feature that allows you to share details of previously connected Wi-Fi networks in the form of a QR code. When the PC recognizes this in the camera’s viewfinder, it scans the QR code.

The behavior of this feature is shown above. Once the Wi-Fi QR code is scanned, your Windows 11 PC will immediately connect to the network and save the profile to its settings accordingly. This also works for hotspots.

This is primarily beneficial for 2-in-1 Windows PCs and tablets with rear cameras. Although a little strange, this new feature should also work with external cameras connected to desktop PCs, or front-facing webcams on laptops.

This type of functionality, which allows seamless connection to Wi-Fi networks, is already common on Android smartphones. As you can see in the screenshot above from a blank phone, the only way to share a Wi-Fi network (other than giving out the password) is to share using a QR code. iOS users can scan her QR code, but cannot share her QR code themselves.

Apart from this, Windows 11 Insider build 26052 also introduced the AI ​​Super Resolution feature that may come in 24H2. The upcoming update will be very large and will be released in late 2024.
