The OnePlus 12 was recently launched internationally and is already discounted in the UK, with the 16/512GB model reduced to £900. The base model is 12/256GB, which is no longer on sale and costs £850. It’s well worth buying 4 gigs of RAM and double the storage for £50.
This phone has received some major updates since its launch. First introduced, Master Mode provides Hasselblad color adjustments in-camera. His ProXDR support for the Google Photos app was enabled via another update. Yet another update introduced some AI features. For example, AIGC Remover removes unwanted objects and people from photos, AI Summariser lets you easily review your call history, and Article Summary reduces long articles to bite-sized text.
OnePlus 12R is also available, but there are no discounts on this yet. Priced at £650, it’s still significantly cheaper than the flagship product, even at the manufacturer’s suggested retail price. Genshin fans may want to wait, but OnePlus will introduce its 12R Genshin Edition, styled after Ke Qing, on February 28th.
After leaving OnePlus, Carl Pei founded Nothing. The company is gearing up to launch its first mid-ranger, while its second flagship model is dropping in price – the £530 12/256GB Nothing Phone (2) is particularly attractive It’s not (was £550 a few weeks ago), but the £560 12/512GB model is worth a look (was £620 two weeks ago).
Samsung has some Androids under £200. The Galaxy A15 5G is equipped with Dimensity 6100+ (which is more or less a revamp of Dimensity 810). It has a 90Hz 6.5-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution. 128GB base storage is expandable via microSD slot. The cameras are basic but decent, with 50MP main, 5MP ultrawide, and 13MP selfie (video recording is limited to 1080p @ 30 fps).
You can save a few pounds by choosing a 4G model. The Samsung Galaxy A15 is almost the same phone, except for the Helio G99 chipset. Both are powered by 5,000mAh batteries and can be charged at 25W.
You can also get a protective case for Galaxy A15/A15 5G. This is an official TPU case with a slot on the back for storing cards (credit cards, travel cards, etc.).
Even cheaper than the A15s is the Samsung Galaxy A05s. This makes a different choice. The 90Hz display is a larger 6.7-inch LCD (even at this price point with FHD+ resolution). Powered by Snapdragon 680, the Helio G99 also looks modern. Still, it has expandable storage and all three have 3.5mm headphone jacks. The battery is the same at 5,000mAh and 25W.
These tablets don’t need much introduction. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra is the largest of the series, and one of the largest modern tablets in general. It features a 14.6-inch 120Hz AMOLED display paired with an included stylus. With the USB-C port and DeX, you can add a second display to your tablet. The tablet itself acts as a second screen for your Windows 10 (or newer) PC. Connection is wireless and you can choose between low-latency and high-quality modes.
The same trick also works on Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+. Of course, the 12.4-inch 120Hz display is still big enough to be useful. The Tab S9 series is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chip, which has higher clocks than the regular 8 Gen 2 chip.
There’s also an 11-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab S9. Note that this model has 128 GB of base storage and, more importantly, only 8 GB of RAM. The 256GB model comes with 12GB, as do the Plus and Ultra models.
Same situation with Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+. His base 64GB model only has 4GB of RAM, but the 128GB model doubles that to 8GB. The tablet will receive two OS updates (it runs Android 13 initially, so it will end up at 15) and four years of security patches.
