A California boxing coach has divided the internet after posting a video of two children bleeding from their faces during an intense sparring session.
Martial arts have taken the world by storm, and MMA, boxing, professional wrestling, and more seem to be more popular than ever.
So while it’s not uncommon for kids to try their luck or even participate themselves, one coach set the internet ablaze for having two 10-year-olds fight in the ring.

Boxing coach Henry Ramirez revealed in a tweet by I may not have expected it to continue with X.
Bloody 10-year-old sparks boxing controversy
In the clip, Ramirez can be heard praising the two kids, who had just had an intense sparring session that left them both dripping with blood.
“A little blood never hurt anyone,” he said. “People will think we’re abusing children here. Good job, boys.”

But the internet was quick to react, with many praising the coach while others thought he shouldn’t have let him fight that hard.
“It’s great that we’re promoting boxing to young people. But this kind of early sparring doesn’t help them learn technique or the sport. Starting hard sparring at a young age is… Needless to say,” one person criticized.

“I don’t believe in headshots for kids until they’re old enough to understand and decide if they want to accept the risks involved in the sport,” says another. There’s a chime.

Some feared the two children suffered brain damage from the violent fight, but others defended the coach.

Coach Ramirez defends having his kids fight to the death, explaining that the two have fought 22 times and are training for a national championship.

Ramirez even claims the woman was planning to report him for child abuse, but it’s still unclear whether he faces any legal battles.
