Posten, the Norwegian postal service, uses innovative technology to deliver letters and parcels in a timely manner. It’s important any time of the year, but especially around Christmas.
To give Posten complete control over digital communications during the busiest period of the year, Telia Norway has installed a private 5G network at Posten’s new terminal at Oslo Logistic Park Drobak. did. Posten’s private 5G network is tailored to your specific needs and requirements, ensuring optimal performance and enhanced security.
In addition to the wireless private 5G network, Posten’s terminal at Oslo Logistikpark Drøbak is connected by two separate fiber cables that support cloud services and communication with the company’s central system. As a backup in case you run into connectivity issues, the device also has an antenna that can be used to connect to satellite internet services.
Although Posten has a history of 375 years, we aim to utilize the latest technology.
Providing coverage inside buildings like Posten’s new terminals can be difficult as demand changes depending on what’s on the shelf, but Telia’s private 5G network addresses that challenge.
Telia is a leader in 5G in Norway and has been Posten’s technology partner since autumn 2021.
John Christian Hillestad, Head of Enterprise, Telia Norway
The advantage of such a facility is that it guarantees the full availability and capacity of the equipment on which Posten is fully dependent for the operation of the terminal. Private 5G networks are also the most secure form of wireless communication, offering a completely different level of security, mobility, and performance that you can’t get with something like Wi-Fi.
Arne Erik Berntzen, Posten CIO
It’s exciting to test and use the possibilities that 5G technology offers. When I set out to build a new device, I wanted to see if I could base all my data communications on the mobile network. Provide secure communication for all devices, both inside and outside the terminal.
