Telecom network expansion
According to Telekom, 5G antennas in around 800 cities and municipalities currently operate in the 3.6 GHz frequency band and support speeds of up to 1 Gbps. 5G network coverage has already reached more than 95 percent of households, and LTE network coverage has reached 99 percent of households.
Telekom Deutschland “We continue to accelerate the expansion of mobile networks. Already more than 95 percent of the population has access to telecom 5G, and we aim to reach 99 percent of the population by 2025. We offer Germany a comprehensive service: a sustainable network to prepare the country for the digital future.”

5G Campus Network of HSU/UniBw H
In another development, Deutsche Telekom has teamed up with Ericsson to establish a 5G network to support research at Helmut Schmidt University/Hamburg Bundeswehr University (HSU/UniBw H). The 5G campus network focuses on research in wireless connectivity for industrial processes, automation technologies, logistics, autonomous robots, drone defense systems, and 5G-based safety and security applications.
Unique features of 5G campus networks
A notable aspect of the campus network’s private 5G architecture is that, for the first time, part of the 5G core network is directly connected to Ericsson’s 5G Device and Network Testing (DNT) platform in Düsseldorf. This connectivity allows campus networks to benefit from the latest updates and developments from network technology providers, even before they are officially released to market.

Operation frequency
The 5G Standalone (5G SA) network will operate in the frequency range of 3.7-3.8 GHz, providing researchers with up to 100 MHz of bandwidth, according to the statement. HSU/UniBw H gives you complete control over your private network, allowing flexible management of features and prioritization of data traffic for specific applications.
The cooperation between HSU/UniBw H, Deutsche Telekom and Ericsson is initially planned for three years and will include testing of 5G mmWave technology in the 26 GHz range in the future.
