In an interview with NBC News anchor Lester Holt, Nadella said: I think we would all benefit from addressing specific issues if the online world was a safe one. ” exclusively on NBC Nightly News.
“I don’t think anyone wants an online world that’s not completely safe for content creators and content consumers,” Nadella said in an interview. “Therefore, we believe we have a duty to act quickly on this matter.”
Asked about the impact of AI, Nadella cited “all the guardrails that need to be put in place around the technology so that safer content is produced.” And there’s a lot to do and a lot going on there. ” The Microsoft CEO said that “law enforcement and technology platforms” can work together and “I think we can govern more than we give ourselves credit for.”
Microsoft’s own software may have been involved in creating the Swift fake. 404 Media reports that the fake image of the pop star may have originated from a group on Telegram where users share pornographic images of AI-generated women. One of the tools used by members of the group is Microsoft Designer, a free AI-based image generation tool, which employs workarounds to circumvent safety mechanisms that prohibit sexually explicit content, according to the report. It is said that they are doing so.
Separately on Friday, SAG-AFTRA issued a statement condemning the fake images of Swift as “upsetting, harmful, and deeply disturbing,” calling them “fake images, especially those that are obscene, without someone’s consent.” Developing and distributing images of this nature must be made illegal.”
Microsoft has so far invested more than $13 billion in San Francisco-based OpenAI, the research organization that created the viral AI chatbot ChatGPT. Earlier this month, The Times filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and Microsoft, accusing them of copyright infringement and seeking billions of dollars in damages for allegedly using materials owned by Times to train ChatGPT.
