The Milwaukee Brewers recently signed first baseman Reece Hoskins to a two-year, $34 million contract that includes a player opt-out after the first season and a mutual option for a third season. He’s probably the best-hitting first baseman in this year’s free agent class, and the national media recognizes what a great deal this is for the Brew Crew.
Jomboy Media’s internet personality Jake Strial praised the Milwaukee Brewers for signing Reece Hoskins.
“I love that Reese (Hoskins) signed with Milwaukee. When it happened, it felt obvious. Milwaukee is a very calculated franchise. You can’t make a lot of mistakes, and Reese… As long as Hoskins is on the field for 100 games, he can hit 27 home runs.

Rhys Hoskins could have been one of the best hitters in this free agent class if not for injuries.
Reece Hoskins will be forced to miss the entire 2023 season after tearing his ACL during spring training. There’s never a good time for his injury, but last spring he entered his final year as the team’s manager, putting up solid numbers every season and having an incredible postseason. If not for the injury, he could have been one of the best hitters in this year’s free agent class.
“All the conversations we had about free agency this year, Berry, he was great last year, obviously great, there was a big gap in between. Matt Chapman, a platinum-type defender, but with that bat. What do I get?”
“Reece Hoskins has been solid, but he only missed a year with a torn ACL. If he had the regular season of Reece Hoksins in this free agency, we could trust him to be the second best.” I would have talked about it as a hitter.”
-Jake Strial
An interesting point made by Jake Storiale. It also gives the impression that if Reece Hoskins performs as expected in 2024, he will opt out of his contract, return to free agency, and sign a long-term deal elsewhere.
