India’s internet user base continues to grow rapidly. As per TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India)’s Annual Report 2023-2023, the number of user base reached 881.25 million as on March 31, 2023. This shows that the number of users has increased by 56.37 million compared to March 31, 2022.
This growth is driven by a surge in the number of broadband subscriptions, which jumped to 846.57 million in March 2023, compared to 788.29 million a year earlier. This represents a 7.4% increase for him and highlights the growing preference for high-speed internet access.

Meanwhile, as at the end of the financial year 2022-23, the overall telecommunications subscriber base reached 1,172.34 million, and as of March 31, 2023, the subscriber base was 1,166.93 million; It recorded an increase of 5.41 million subscribers. 2022-23.
The wireless subscriber base was 1,143.93 million as at the end of March 31, 2023, compared to the subscriber base of 1,142.09 million as on March 31, 2022, and will increase during the financial year 2022-23. It recorded a slight increase in subscriber base of 1.84 million people. The total number of wireline subscribers as of March 31, 2023 was 28.41 million, and the number of subscribers as of March 31, 2022 was 24.84 million.

Of the 28.41 million wireline subscribers, 26.16 million are urban subscribers and 2.25 million are rural subscribers.
