When sharing a living space with others, it’s common to split bills like electricity, heating and internet.
Some roommates stick to a pre-agreed-upon plan and share utility bills as they were meant to.
Sometimes, somehow, you end up paying the entire bill yourself. One roommate was fed up with her roommate not paying for her share of the internet.
So they decided to take matters into their own hands.
They came up with a solution to annoy their roommates, but it worked perfectly for them, and they shared their experience with social media users on Reddit.
They write: “My roommate didn’t want to pay half the internet bill so I canceled the service and now just use my phone’s hotspot.
“It’s slower than my internet at home, but at least I’m not paying for someone else’s entertainment.”
Although the slow internet speed may have been an inconvenience, they felt the plan was worth it and were very happy with it.

Reddit users left comments about the situation, with some feeling that the poster could have taken a different approach to resolving the situation.
They specifically pointed out that there must have been a cheaper way around this situation, with one person suggesting, “Why didn’t he just change his WiFi password or block his device on the router?”
Another person offered advice: “You can usually get a discount for the first year of service, so if you get sick of the slowness, consider a new plan and don’t share your passwords.”
And, echoing something someone said earlier, one person wrote: “All you had to do was change your password.”
“You could then use an access point that has a paid hotspot, so you have to pay with your credit card every day before you use it, like a hotel. There’s no cost to set it up, you just get a splash screen with a pay wall.”
