BARCELONA, Spain — Mavenir, the network software provider building the future of networks, announces new developments in its OpenBeam™ Massive MIMO (mMIMO) portfolio powered by the Qualcomm® QRU100 5G RAN platform, following on from last year’s product launch update Did. Mavenir expands the OpenBeam™ portfolio by introducing a lower power next generation 32TRX mMIMO variant along with his higher power 32TRX AAU.

These next-generation mMIMO 32TRX active antenna units (AAUs) introduce a new breed of radios that are green by design, open, and interoperable. The OpenBeam™ mMIMO AAU delivers superior energy efficiency, resulting in one of the slimmest mMIMO AAU footprints in the industry, delivering significant operating cost savings.
In addition to the current O-RAN 7.2b specification, this product is designed to support ULPI (Uplink Performance Improvement), allowing network operators to improve uplink performance for Massive MIMO, especially in urban environments. , minimize latency, and reduce fronthaul bandwidth. Demand for network capacity is high.
The portfolio consists of two separate models to accelerate 5G mid-band deployment.
- 32TRX AAU low power model: The industry’s smallest footprint, low-power mMIMO AAU provides 200 W of output power with 128 antenna elements with minimal energy consumption. This solution is optimized for deployment in high-density environments, resulting in faster installation and reduced operational overhead.
- 32TRX AAU high power model: Mavenir’s high-performance mMIMO AAU that can deliver 320W of output power and provide 192 antenna elements. This platform supports higher instantaneous bandwidth and output power for extended coverage, making it ideal for RAN shared deployments.
The 32TRX AAU solution offers advanced energy-saving features that incorporate a smart sleep mode scheme that is activated during idle, low-traffic, and busy periods. These automation capabilities can be further enhanced using AI/ML-based intelligence.
Paco Martin, Head of Open RAN at Vodafone Group, said: “We are pleased to expand Mavenir’s mMIMO portfolio with the addition of low-power, compact products that fit our single-operator and footprint-constrained sites, in addition to our existing high-performance products. I think.” Power leading solutions. Further adoption of the Qualcomm QRU100 5G RAN platform will continue to deliver high-performance, power-efficient open RAN radios to deliver the best customer experience. ”
BG Kumar, President, Access Networks, Platforms and MDE, Mavenir said: “With the continued evolution and enhancement of our OpenBeam™ massive MIMO radio solution, Mavenir is once again setting new standards for the industry when it comes to energy efficiency, sustainability and performance.”
“We are very pleased with this expansion of Mavenir’s high-performance, power-efficient, massive MIMO radio portfolio with the Qualcomm QRU100 5G RAN platform,” said Gerald Giaretta, vice president of product management, Qualcomm Technologies. says Mr. This is a milestone in our continued collaboration with Mavenir and will drive the full-scale implementation of his open and virtualized RAN. ”
