Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew II was well known for his looks during his time at Washington State University.
The veteran quarterback’s iconic mustache and long surfer-style hair combo have made him a familiar face to NFL fans around the world, and he now sports that unique look as a member of the Las Vegas Raiders.
Photos from Minshew’s media day were recently released and, as is often the case, the images quickly became a hot topic on social media.

As you can see from the recent NFL X post above, Minshew himself has also been enjoying some photo ops. In the photo above right, he imitates Uncle Rico, a fictional character from the comedy film Napoleon Dynamite, to whom many fans liken Minshew’s appearance.
Minshew joined the Raiders as a free agent this offseason after spending last season with the Indianapolis Colts, where he played in all 17 games and started 13, and was selected to his first Pro Bowl.
His tenure in Indianapolis followed two seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he started only four of nine games but was able to experience the team’s run to Super Bowl 52, where they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Minshew spent two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars before being traded to Philadelphia in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He shocked the league with a stellar rookie season, throwing for 3,271 yards and 21 touchdowns in just 14 games (12 starts).
The Raiders’ new quarterback is in his sixth NFL season and is competing for the position with second-year Raiders quarterback Aidan O’Connell.
Minshew has 9,937 passing yards and 59 passing yards in 49 career games.
Regardless of where Minshew finishes on the player depth chart in his first season with the Silver and Black, he’s a great piece to have on the Raiders’ roster. Whether it’s years of experience, a laid-back attitude, comedic relief or standout looks, Minshew has a lot of positive attributes to offer the organization.
And yes, he’s pretty good at throwing stones too.
