To expand the impact of emerging technologies, the SHIFT team has embarked on a comprehensive dialogue and joint initiative with ESSENCE-6GM, a German state-funded project that addresses similar technical and physical challenges in the field of technology development. Ta.
An important meeting between the two teams set the stage for fruitful exchanges, with both sides delving into their respective topics and activities. Synergies between the SHIFT and ESSENCE-6GM efforts were revealed by exploring commonalities and sharing insights.
Looking ahead, the two dynamic consortia outlined plans for a series of outreach and clustering activities, ecosystem-building activities, and information exchange sessions. The main objective is to foster mutual learning experiences, leverage synergies and expand our impact on the technological landscape.
This collaboration, which can best be called a clustering activity, is well placed to strengthen coordination and support European influence in the field of 6G D-band communications and sensing. These two teams are combining their expertise and shared vision to pave the way for a more impactful technology future.
The ESSENCE-6GM project is developing components that enable powerful transmission in the sub-THz range with high energy efficiency. Overall, this project will help Germany play a leading role in the formation of his 6G standards and increase the proportion of key components of his 6G systems manufactured in Europe. This will significantly contribute to strengthening Germany and Europe’s technological sovereignty.
Meanwhile, the SHIFT project supports Europe’s desire for semiconductor sovereignty by developing new semiconductor and packaging technologies for high frequencies in the 6G era and accelerating the development and deployment of new European technologies.
