As the Chinese New Year approaches, hoteliers in Greater China must prepare for a welcome surge in tourists.Amadeus’ exclusive positive hotel booking data shows high demand for travel across cities for the upcoming holiday period from February 10th to 17thth.
The top hotel markets based on hotel occupancy for the holiday week are:
- Jinghong City, China 79%
- Shantou, China 60%
- Dali of China 59%
- Jilin Province, China 56%
- Zhuhai, China 54%

In addition to higher occupancy rates, travelers are also paying more for their stay compared to last year. According to Amadeus data, the average daily price (ADR) in top destination Jinghong is USD 320, up 8% from the week of Chinese New Year 2023.
Data shows a similar story in Shantou, where this year’s ADR is 5% higher than last year. This shows the strong recovery of China’s hospitality industry since the country restarted travel.
Holiday air travel trends also show an interesting pattern, with the top inbound market to China and outbound market from China being the same.
The top aviation markets in China, both inbound and outbound, based on holiday week air traffic are:
- Thailand
- South Korea
- Japan
- Hong Kong
- Singapore
