SALT LAKE CITY — Utah has a state seal, state bird, state flower, state insect and even a state crustacean.
Still, only 13 states in the United States have designated a state dog, with Maryland leading the way in 1964 by designating the Chesapeake Bay Retriever as one of its state symbols.
So if Utah had a state dog, what type would it be and what would it symbolize?
In 1964, when Maryland named its state dog, artificial intelligence was not a popular or widely used technology, at least not as we think of it today. But now, generative AI is being used to imagine and create all sorts of things, including a hypothetical list of state dogs for all 50 states.
Pet information website PetLab Co. recently harnessed the power of generative AI to create a list where each dog represents a specific condition. The design of each image was inspired by the state’s history, culture, geography and wildlife, according to a press release.
This could leave Utah, a wildlife-rich and geographically diverse state, with many options. But in the end, the AI decided that the Desert Summit Hound was the right dog to be Utah’s state dog.
Although this is not an official breed, the AI-generated image shows the dog perched gracefully on a rock in an alpine environment surrounded by jagged peaks, rivers, and a vast sky that encapsulates much of what Utahns love. This photo shows a Bernese Mountain Dog. About the condition.
A Pet Lab spokesperson said: “We used an AI image generator to reveal what the dog breeds inspired by each state look like. Each dog is a great homage to its namesake breed. It gives a sense of the individuality and expresses each person’s individuality.”
Other notable AI-generated state dogs include New York’s “Liberty Bagel Stealer,” a Pomeranian who carries baked goods. Indiana’s Hoosier Bat Terrier, a terrier with bat wings?
In this imaginary state of Arizona, there lives a dog called the Desert Sun Hound, whose coat is dyed in a tribal pattern. Somewhat disturbingly, the Idaho dog “Pomo Spud” is a dog who wears potato slices instead of a fur coat.
“Surprisingly, while many AI-generated dogs look like medium to large dogs, there are only a few states where small dogs are represented, and Texas dogs are one of them. , which does not seem to correlate with the geographic size of each region.”It is the smallest one ever made,” the spokesperson said.
