Super Bowl 15 between the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs left viewers in suspense as the tied game went into overtime and ended in a Chiefs victory.
But amidst the excitement of the game, millions of viewers expect to see Super Bowl commercials. Social media users typically discuss these commercials immediately after a game.
This year, popular Catholic worship app Hallow will release its first-ever Super Bowl commercial, potentially reaching millions of viewers.
The Catholic-themed commercial stars Mark Wahlberg and Jonathan Roomy and focuses on Hallow’s annual Lenten Pray40 challenge.
The 30-second commercial begins with Wahlberg dipping her finger in holy water, making the sign of the cross, and entering her husband, St. Joseph of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Las Vegas.
“Lord, we take this time just to thank you. Thank you for coming together this time as a family, as friends, and as a nation,” Wahlberg said, adding that the scene was a family praying before a meal, He then moved on to the fans cheering in the stands at the game, before saying: US troops kneeling in prayer.
Jonathan Roomy then receives Ash Wednesday’s ashes from the priest.
“Lord, help us draw ever closer to You, especially in this Lent. Amen,” Wahlberg concluded.
Wahlberg then asks viewers to “join us in prayer this Holy Lent.”
