It’s okay to be possessive about your Tupperware box, but it’s okay to have pasta stains from two years ago. One girlfriend, TikTok user @ariganja, shared an easy cleaning hack she learned from her friend’s grandma. The video, captioned “Best hack I was ever taught,” has received more than 659,000 views. Hacks and tips given to you by your grandma are rarely useless, and this time was no exception. In fact, Tupperware went from a dirty box to a sparkling clear box in a matter of minutes. If this hack had been shared earlier, I might have been able to save all my biceps training for washing dishes to another chore.
Proud Tupperware owners are the first to show off their dirty Tupperware containers. She gave it a thorough cleaning but still has some orange stains. She fills her container halfway with hot water and adds some dish soap. She tears the paper towels into small pieces and puts them in the box as well. She closes her lid and shakes her container well. Within minutes, she’ll have your Tupperware container looking sparkling clean and new. No orange stains.
TikTok users were overjoyed to learn about this handy and easy hack. “Now I can see the results. It doesn’t use that much water. It’s amazing!” @pervykittkat commented. “This didn’t work at all. I tried it twice lol. That was lucky!” @carmenbell16 wrote. Some users also shared hacks they use to clean up containers. “I pour them some Clorox and bam,” @Nisha shared. “Rub or spray a little oil on the container before adding the contents. It’s easy to clean and doesn’t stain.” added @jaxjamn. “My secret is that if I eat spaghetti all the time, I’ll be fine,” joked @bronson2099.
While cleaning Tupperware may not seem like the best way to protect the environment, reusable containers like Tupperware not only reduce the use of plastic in your home, but also reduce food waste. It’s also helpful. Approximately 40 million tons of plastic waste is discarded in the United States alone each year. Most of that waste consists of single-use plastics such as plastic wrap and sandwich bags. Using reusable containers eliminates the need for single-use plastics and keeps them clean, so you’ll want to use them often.
Reusable and sealable containers also help keep food fresh longer in the refrigerator. Without composting, unconsumed food is more likely to end up in a landfill. In fact, 40% of his food in the United States ends up in the United States. Around £42 billion of this comes directly from our households. If that’s not enough, it will also save you money. Tupperware and other reusable containers are affordable and last a long time (especially if you use this cleaning hack).
This reduces the cost of purchasing single-use plastics to store food, while keeping food fresher for longer. However, there are some health risks to using plastic containers, such as chemicals in the plastic seeping into the food, so you may also consider using glass containers.
