A recent survey by CyberMedia Research (CMR) highlights the surging demand among consumers for 5G technology, superior camera quality, and longer battery life. In particular, emerging brands iQOO and LAVA are challenging the dominance of established players, with iQOO being recommended by 75 percent of users and LAVA by 68 percent, leading to changes in consumer perception of these brands. is showing.
The survey targeted consumers and retailers in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Kanpur, Jabalpur, Ranchi and Madurai. We surveyed over 500 smartphone users and 250 retailers. This means that consumers will appreciate features such as 5G compatibility, camera enhancements (68%), and long-lasting batteries (66%) that were found to be important to 70% of respondents. This change in preferences is also reflected in the daily usage patterns of smartphone users, who spend an average of 67 minutes on social media, 59 minutes watching Reels, and 57 minutes chatting. The demand for entertainment such as video streaming, music, and gaming emphasizes the need for devices with robust performance features.
The study also revealed that satisfaction levels vary by brand. realme and Vivo’s scores are below 50%, mainly due to dissatisfaction with camera performance, battery life, and perceived value. This dissatisfaction has led consumers to consider switching brands, highlighting the importance of 5G capabilities as a key factor for his 70% of consumers looking for a new device.
Among the brands gaining momentum, iQOO stands out for its high recommendation rate, followed by LAVA, which has increased its trustworthiness by a remarkable 20% over the past year.
Feedback from retailers is aligned with changing consumer preferences, with 77% recognizing changes in market dynamics. Expectations for 5G technology, positive sentiment around the ‘Make in India’ initiative and an expected increase in demand for AI solutions in smartphones further indicate that the landscape of the Indian smartphone market is evolving.
