Dr. Neeraj Mittal, Chairman, Digital Communication Commission and Secretary, Department of Telecommunications (DoT) under the Ministry of Communications (MoC), announced the launch of ‘Bharat 5G Portal – Announcing “Integrated Portal.” Business Expo’
The event was organized by the Telecommunications Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC) in collaboration with DoT and was held from January 29 to 30, 2024.
Bharat 5G portal announced
As part of the Ministry of Telecommunications’ initiative, a call for 6G R&D proposals has been announced on the integrated portal to accelerate research on 6G ecosystem development. Additionally, Secretary Dr. Neeraj Mittal launched the Future Tech-Experts registration portal in collaboration with PANIIT USA as a strategic move to support and guide the Indian telecom ecosystem. This initiative has been featured prominently on the Bharat 5G portal.
During the expo, a special conference session titled “Bridging Dreams and Funding: Connecting the Future of Venture Capitalists/Investors and Startups” was opened by the Secretary (T). The session showcased innovative communication products of 26 startups/MSMEs and provided funding opportunities. More than 10 venture capitalists/investors participated in discussions about how their support can contribute to the growth and scalability of these products.
Dr Neeraj Mittal, in his address at the launch of the Bharat 5G Portal, highlighted India’s rapid progress in 5G deployment and asserted its status as one of the fastest countries in the world. In particular, he mentioned India’s emergence as a reliable global partner in the field of 5G and now 6G technology. Dr. Mittal highlighted the flourishing high-tech startup ecosystem in the country along with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision to create new business opportunities for Indian manufacturers by increasing participation in startups.
The Bharat 5G portal serves as a comprehensive platform to cater to the needs of startups, industry, and academia in quantum, 6G, IPR, and 5G domains. With features such as Future Tech-Experts registration portal, the platform will serve as a one-stop solution for all quantum, IPR, PoC/Pilot, 5G, and 6G related work and aims to advance the goal of Atmanirbhar Bharat I am. It aims to advance India’s 5G capabilities by fostering innovation, collaboration and knowledge sharing in the telecommunications sector.
