As outlined by utility expert Fernando Mendez, the process of installing internet at home varies greatly depending on location and specific circumstances.
In urban areas, you can expect installation within 2-3 days, but in some cases, such as Lisbon, same-day installation is possible. For local cases, under normal circumstances, the schedule could be extended within a week.
It is also possible to set the installation date in advance. For example, if you are moving to Portugal on December 10th, you can arrange your internet a few weeks in advance and request it to be installed on December 11th or 12th.
In general, we recommend that you do not install internet on the day of your arrival in case you arrive late or the technician is too tired to attend.

What are the chances of delays?
In general, delays should not be expected, but they may occur, for example, if a technician discovers that there are no more slots available in the connection box serving the area. This problem usually only occurs when your Internet Service Provider (ISP) doesn’t properly record which slots are free and which slots are used, but thankfully this happens frequently. Not that I will.
In practice, this means your ISP may need an additional week or two to upgrade your box.
