After experiencing the Tecno Camon 30 Premier 5G first-hand, we turned our attention to its two siblings: Camon 30 and Camon 30 5G. The Premier is definitely a premium model, but the two aren’t all that different. They also share some design language and functionality.
Techno Camon 30 5G
Tecno Camon 30 5G is powered by Dimensity 7020 chipset. This is a 6nm part based on Dimensity 930 with two Cortex-A78 cores at 2.2GHz and six A55 cores at 2.0GHz. Equipped with a PowerVR IMG B-series GPU and 5G modem (sub-6GHz).
It’s not as powerful as the Dimensity 8200 Ultra in Premier, but at least it offers next-gen connectivity.
The front of the phone features a large 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 1,080 x 2,436 pixels (but it’s not an LTPO panel). It has a punch-hole his 50MP selfie camera with autofocus and dual color temperature flash.
Flip the back over and you’ll see the same beveled area near the circular camera island. This is the design feature that unifies his Camon 30 family. It’s also ergonomic: holding the phone horizontally provides a natural place to rest your fingers.
The main camera on the back also has a 50MP 1/1.57-inch sensor. This module also features OIS which is useful for night portraits. However, it does not have an ultra-wide-angle lens, and certainly no telephoto lens.

Tecno Camon 30 is a 4G model powered by Helio G99 chipset. Tecno has paired this with 12GB of RAM (and 12GB virtual), but this is not a high-performance device. The 6nm chipset features two Cortex-A76 cores (2.2GHz) and six A55 cores (2.0GHz), as well as a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU and a 4G modem.
The Tecno Camon 30 has the same design as its two siblings and is available with a vegan leather back (the other option is a glass back). Either way, these are great looking phones.
The camera setup is similar to 5G, with a 50MP main on the back (with OIS) and a 50MP selfie on the front (with AF and flash). The display is the same 6.78-inch 120Hz AMOLED panel with the same FHD+ resolution.
Both the Camon 30 5G and 4G models are powered by the same 5,000mAh battery as the Pro, with 70W charging. It also has the same stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos (with grills on the top and bottom) and an IR blaster on top.
This is just a preview of the upcoming Tecno Camon 30 series. The Premier is expected to go on sale in the second quarter (April to June), and its siblings should also hit the market around the same time.
