Chris Micheli, a longtime contributor to the California Globe, has published a book, “Handbook on California Legislative Data,” which summarizes his years of research into aspects of California’s legislative process. Micheli is an attorney and lobbyist with his own firm, Snodgrass & Micheli, and is also an adjunct professor at McGeorge School of Law and a lecturer in law at the University of California, Davis, King Hall School of Law.
The book contains more than 40 chapters and includes numerous charts of procedural data he has tracked over the past 20 years, such as bill introductions and gubernatorial actions. “I have always studied the California State Legislature and its legislative process. Over the years, I have looked at various aspects such as gubernatorial vetoes and signing messages, bill introduction and passage rates, etc.” Micheli explained.
“We hope this book and its data will be useful to both practitioners and scholars in evaluating the efforts of the California Legislature,” Micheli said. The book is 145 pages long and includes explanatory material and charts representing years of data collection by the author.
