So the Screen Actors Guild Awards (or SAG Awards, if you like brevity) were handed out last night. Here is a photo of the statuette that the lucky winner took home.
Nominations in these areas always pile up, and this year was no exception. One of her particularly close contests was for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role, where Lily Gladstone had a surprising performance. Murderers of the Flower Moon…
” and played against Emma Stone’s amazing performance. poor thing.
In the end, Lily, who has been a perennial favorite throughout awards season, took home the trophy, and for good reason. And her speech wonderful.
“It’s really a gift that we get to do this for a living. It’s a victory,” she said. She was finally here and arriving on set. The story is starting to be told. We bring empathy to a world that needs empathy. It’s so easy to distance ourselves. It’s so easy to close your mind to stop feeling, but we all bravely continue to feel, and that’s what makes us human. It brings people out of the shadows. It brings visibility. ”

“Everyone in this room, please continue to tell your stories to those watching overseas,” Lilly added. “Those who are not actors but do have a voice have a story that needs to be heard. Thank you to all the compassionate souls and storytellers in this room tonight. For your truth. Keep talking and keep speaking up for each other.”
Lily’s words were powerful. And Emma’s reaction when Lily persuaded her was also very heartwarming. Look at her enthusiasm that she shows. How wonderful!

I think Emma prepared it at home knowing that Lily and I would be just as happy to get it, and I’m honestly glad she did that. That’s great sportsmanship. They’ve both been great this year, and it could have gone either way, but it still could have happened at the Oscars. https://t.co/WGJfymehO4
