Cisco plans to incorporate new security and AI capabilities into Cisco Security Cloud, the company’s unified cloud-based security platform designed to protect on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments using internal and third-party telemetry announced.
New features include Cisco Identity Intelligence, a visibility graph of an organization’s existing identity and access management tools. The company also added new AI capabilities: Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Generative AI (GenAI) tools for security.
“Cisco Identity Intelligence aims to strengthen security through a unique approach that unifies identity, networking, and security within the Cisco Security Cloud,” said Matt Caulfield, vice president of products and identity at Cisco. . “It addresses vulnerabilities related to identity-based attacks and provides enhanced visibility, behavioral analytics, and AI-driven insights to empower users and defend against advanced threats.”
Cisco Identity Intelligence and new AI capabilities will be available to customers as part of the Cisco Security Cloud in July 2024 at no additional charge.
Cisco’s new Identity Intelligence is a visualization tool delivered as an inventory of an organization’s existing Cisco and third-party identity and access solutions, combined with behavioral analytics.
“Cisco Identity Intelligence captures data not only from Cisco solutions but also from other third-party sources for customers who manage identity and access. It leverages that data to inform access policies and threat detection capabilities. and create an identity graph that incorporates AI to enhance it,” said Caulfield.
Apart from visibility graphs, Cisco Identity Intelligence also feeds into Cisco’s existing solutions such as Cisco Duo, Cisco Secure Access, and Cisco XDR. With the addition of Cisco Identity Intelligence, these services are expected to provide better authentication, access, and threat detection, respectively.
“With AI-driven behavioral analytics and unparalleled reach into Cisco networks, organizations can go from terminating active sessions and isolating compromised identities to isolating associated networks using the Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE). to dynamically respond to identity-based threats,” Caulfield added.
New GenAI and NLP features
“Cisco Identity Intelligence leverages AI-driven analytics, leveraging robust identity graphs and AI capabilities to provide unified visibility and insight across identity populations,” Caufield said. He added that becoming an AI-first company is just one of the many initiatives Cisco is working on.
In addition to leveraging AI to drive analytics in Cisco Identity Intelligence, the company has introduced several other unique uses of various AI technologies to improve the performance of its existing products. Did.
Secure Access, Cisco’s access management tool, now includes new GenAI capabilities for creating security access policies using natural language prompts. Secure Access uses these new capabilities to discover and protect intellectual property (IP) within the systems it operates.
Additionally, Cisco offers AI-based email threat detection capabilities through its Email Threat Protection product, which uses AI to evaluate various parts of incoming emails for markers of malicious intent. We plan to provide it.
