Following a series of internet and connectivity upgrades, Carnival Cruise Line increased daily rates on all three WiFi packages on December 8th.
Carnival last increased its WiFi rates a year ago.
The social package, which includes social media and access to the airline’s site, now costs $12.75 to $15.30 when purchased before the cruise. If purchased on-board, the package now costs $18 instead of $15.
Value Package prices went from $17 to $19.55 when purchased before the cruise. If purchased on-board, the package cost between $20 and $23. This level of Internet access includes browsing websites and email, but does not include streaming music or video.
Premium packages range from $18.70 to $21.25 when purchased before the cruise. If purchased on-board, the package will cost between $22 and $25. According to Carnival, this package provides the fastest connection and is up to three times faster than the Value package. This package supports Skype, Zoom, and Teams video calling.
The price increases come as Carnival has implemented upgrades across its 25 ships to enable internet access using Starlink, a satellite internet service developed by SpaceX.
The newest ship, Carnival Jubilee, which debuts on December 23, will be equipped with 5G mobile connectivity. The service will be available in early 2024, and guests will be able to access the connection through their mobile carrier’s cruise ship service plan.
Following the rollout on Jubilee, the line will enable 5G capabilities with other ships across the fleet.
