Realme’s foray into the flagship smartphone space with Realme 12 Pro+ 5G is a bold step and demonstrates the company’s ambition to compete with established players in the market. Let’s take a look at what this smartphone, which is positioned as a “next generation imaging flagship”, has in store in this review.
performance
Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, Realme 12 Pro+ 5G offers great performance and connectivity features. Easily handle everyday tasks like multitasking, gaming, and streaming content.
It was easy to use, from multitasking and app loading times to simply using the phone to play games. I played games like “Genshin”, “PUBG”, and “Asphalt 9”, and while it was naturally a little warm to the touch during games, it worked smoothly without many problems.
camera
Undoubtedly, the standout feature of the Realme 12 Pro+ 5G is its periscope telephoto lens, which boasts a large sensor size and optical zoom capabilities. Image quality and stability of the smartphone, especially in low light. The addition of 120X SuperZoom digital zoom further expands your shooting capabilities, allowing you to capture distant subjects in sharp detail. However, while periscope lenses are great in certain scenarios, they are difficult to maintain consistency between different lighting conditions and can sometimes produce underwhelming results.
design and display
In collaboration with luxury watchmaker Olivier Saveo, Realme has created a sleek smartphone. And they may have actually done just that, as many people around me were quick to comment on the phone’s design, calling it chic and classy.
From the ultra-light form factor to the premium vegan leather finish, every aspect of the Realme 12 Pro+ 5G’s design exudes elegance. It remains to be seen how the phone will cope with long-term wear and tear.
With a 120Hz curved vision display, Realme 12 Pro+ 5G offers an immersive viewing experience that rivals its competitors.
UI and other features
Running on Realme UI 5.0 based on Android 14, Realme 12 Pro+ 5G offers a variety of intuitive features aimed at improving the user experience. From file docks to flash capsules, the device comes with several software enhancements designed to streamline everyday tasks. The phone still comes with some annoying pre-installed apps, but I’m very glad to see that number has been reduced.
With a 5000mAh battery and 67W SUPERVOOC charging, the Realme 12 Pro+ 5G was charged all day long and provided fast charging when needed.
Jack of all trades?
In conclusion, Realme 12 Pro+ 5G shows innovation and ambition. Since I started reviewing the device, it has received three software updates in quick succession, so expect more bug fixes and improvements.
This phone will definitely satisfy your thirst for a mid-range device with a premium look. Realme 12 Pro+ 5G comes in three colors: Submarine Blue, Navigator Beige, and Explorer Red (India exclusive).
