Vodafone Romania has selected Ericsson as its key partner to upgrade its Radio Access Network (RAN) infrastructure and roll out 5G technology across the country.
The six-year agreement will see Ericsson provide Vodafone customers with 5G RAN products and solutions that increase network speeds, reduce latency and improve reliability.
Under the terms of the agreement, Ericsson will act as Vodafone Romania’s primary 5G RAN partner, implementing cutting-edge technology to enhance the existing mobile network infrastructure. This innovative initiative highlights Vodafone Romania’s commitment to driving digital innovation and facilitating the transition to a fully connected society.
“Building future-ready, secure and energy-efficient networks is critical to supporting our digital society,” said Nicolae Vilceanu, Chief Network Officer at Vodafone Romania. “Our partnership with Ericsson will provide the technology foundation to launch fast and reliable 5G networks and will have a significant impact on our customers.”
Echoing these sentiments, Ericsson Romania Country Manager Dragos Mircea Rebegea highlights the transformative potential of cutting-edge 5G solutions.
“We are proud to partner with Vodafone Romania in building the network of the future,” Lebegea affirms. “Our innovative technology not only enhances connectivity, but also acts as a catalyst for industry transformation, laying the foundation for a more interconnected digital society.”
At the heart of the deployment is Ericsson’s comprehensive portfolio of 5G RAN products and solutions, including Ericsson antenna systems and massive MIMO technology. These advances will help accelerate Romania’s digital transformation journey, allowing businesses and individuals to take advantage of the countless opportunities presented by 5G connectivity.
With a focus on sustainability, Ericsson’s latest generation of radios and basebands (RAN Compute) aligns with broader efforts to promote a greener and more efficient telecommunications ecosystem to support Vodafone Romania. It also contributes to reducing the energy consumption of the entire network.
