T-Mobile’s Ulf Evalsson becomes chairman; Ericsson’s Barbara Baffer reappointed as financial chief
Bellevue, Washington – January 4, 2024 – 5G Americas, the voice for 5G and beyond across the Americas, today announced that Ulf Ewaldsson, president of technology at T-Mobile US, has been elected chairman of its board of directors for 2024. Barbara Baffer, vice president of government and policy advocacy at Ericsson, was re-elected treasurer of the wireless communications industry association.
“Mobile communications has significant challenges and opportunities to address in the future, and we look forward to working with the newly elected leadership and all members of the Board in 2024 to ensure continued success in 5G and beyond,” said Chris Pearson, president of 5G Americas.
As President of Technology at T-Mobile, Ulf Ewaldsson oversees the management and development of T-Mobile’s wireless network, IT services and technology operations. Previously, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Network Officer, leading a nationwide team focused on delivering a great network experience to customers. Ewaldsson has been instrumental in creating innovative industry products and concepts that are globally recognized. He is known throughout the wireless industry for his passion and track record of driving innovation, operations and execution.
Regarding his election, Wolf said, “The modern wireless network is the world’s greatest machine, powering all of society. Barbara Buffer, Ericsson’s vice president of government and policy advocacy, was re-elected treasurer. A 33-year veteran of Ericsson, Buffer manages the company’s regulatory and legislative advocacy efforts in the U.S. and Canada. She also serves in leadership roles in other industry associations, including the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), Tech Titans and TIA.
