A wealth achievement coach recently told me how to lower your cable and internet bills in the United States.
TikToker Nina (@nina_moneymentor) explained how Americans can reduce spending through affordable connectivity programs. The video has been viewed over 480,000 times at the time of release.
“Honestly, I’m surprised not everyone knows about this,” Nina began. “Some people pay $0 a month for cable and Wi-Fi. Let me show you. This is the FCC’s affordable connectivity program.”
“This is an FCC benefits program that makes sure that every household has Wi-Fi and internet access. … They give you up to $30 off your cable bill,” Nina continued.
Many viewers shared their experiences on the show.
“Thanks to that program, my WiFi is now free,” said one person.
“I applied for this through Spectrum a few months ago. My bill was $70/month and now it’s $40/month,” added another user.
“Yes. I haven’t paid anything,” agreed a third person.
@nina_moneymentor I think an affordable connectivity program would be great since Wi-Fi and cable prices seem to have skyrocketed over the past few years. Now I feel like I’m back in the 2010s! 😌 But yeah, one of my friend’s girlfriends said his monthly payments are $0. #AffordableConnectionProgram #Tribalans #InternetBuilding #HighspeedInternet ♬ Original song – Nina | Wealth Gain Coach
Others argued that it was harder to be accepted than advertised.
“It looks like this is for people who are already on government assistance programs, low income people, and only get $30 off if they don’t qualify. Not for me,” one viewer said. .
“It was tough getting my application approved but that’s what you expect from a government funded program,” another shared.
Another viewer lamented, “Oh, looks like in my area you have to be below a certain income or participate in a government program.”
According to FCC.gov, applicants can only qualify if their household is at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines or if their members meet at least one of the criteria listed on the site. Masu. These include being on SNAP, Medicaid, federal housing assistance, etc.
The application deadline is February 7th. This program will reduce your internet and cable bill by up to $30 per month, or $75 per month on tribal lands. Currently, 22 million households are using the program. Unfortunately, by April 2024, the budget is expected to run out, effectively ending the program.
