Pranks are a fun way to lighten the mood and bond with friends and family. However, not all pranks are harmless, and some can have serious consequences. Recently, a woman was the victim of a dangerous prank in which painted balloons were thrown at her car. She shared the incident on Reddit, sparking a discussion among social media users about the safety concerns that come with such pranks.
In a Reddit post, the woman shared the prank that happened to her while she was waiting at a red light, explaining how paint balloons were thrown at her car window, leaving the inside of her car a mess. “Someone threw paint balloons at my car window at a red light. It was harmless but why?” she wrote. The post also included photos of pink paint splattered on her steering wheel, car door, and clothes.
The post, which was shared over two days ago, quickly went viral, garnering over 6,700 upvotes on Reddit and sparking lively discussion in the comments section, with a variety of reactions from users highlighting the impact such pranks can have.
One user pointed out, “It doesn’t seem harmless. It will be a pain to clean especially off the white interior paint. Also, it would be bad if it hit the driver’s face or eyes. It could hit the windshield and create a blind spot. I hope people report it.”
“This isn’t a prank. This is vandalism,” wrote another.
Sharing their own frustrating experience, one person wrote, “Some stupid boys threw eggs all over my car while I was waiting at a stoplight on a hot day. I washed it for hours. 2 years later there are still egg shells in the cracks.”
Another commented: “Pretty nasty behaviour, would have been scary when it happened.”
“If this is due to how truly awful modern influencers are then I can’t help but worry. I’m genuinely scared for the future,” one person said.
One person added to the debate, commenting: “Water balloons may be harmless, but paint balloons are definitely a nuisance.”
“This is an assault. Call the police. It could have been a different chemical. You also caused financial damage to the vehicle by having to clean it up. Plus, if the police get multiple reports they can develop a pattern to try and arrest/charge,” someone suggested.
