Most people would rather avoid an encounter with a crocodile. However, some brave souls are willing to jump right into the middle of it. A recent video shows a woman swimming in the same pond as a crocodile. The video has gone viral online, eliciting numerous responses from Internet users.
Gabby, animal rescuer and owner of Bellowing Acres Alligator Sanctuary, appears in a video posted to Instagram. Known for her daring confrontations with alligators, in her latest video, the woman is seen swimming in a pond near a huge alligator named Bella, who is very aggressive. For this reason, Gabby and her team are trying to calm Bella down so that she doesn’t get angry when she is fed. As soon as Gabby enters the water, Bella approaches her and stops her with a stick. Then, she feeds the alligator.
“Training with Bella the gator! Bella can be aggressive and feisty but is learning to be more calm around food. @gatorboys_chris has taught her lots of things including underwater training and how to use a stick to keep her at a safe distance and control her. Please do not swim with or feed wild gators! This was filmed at our sanctuary @bellowingacres,” she wrote in the video’s caption.
Since being shared, the video has garnered more than 300,000 views and over 9,000 likes on the social media platform.
“Great job Gabby! It’s also interesting to see someone other than Chris feeding and swimming with the crocodiles. It clearly takes years to master this kind of sophisticated multitasking, especially while explaining the process out loud. Very brave of you to walk out there with a tiny stick. Good luck!” one user commented.
Another commented: “You showed her you’re in charge! Good for you, I know she’s a very bold person.”
“Oh she’s so amazing and you’re doing a great job with her!” one person said.
