It’s safe to say that Nvidia (NVDA) is on a roll. The AI darling’s stock is up 267% in the past 12 months, and year-to-date, he’s up 79%. Tech companies around the world covet the company’s graphics cards like rare gems, and CEO Jensen Huang is as much in demand as some heads of state.
And on Monday, March 18, he will kick off Nvidia’s annual GTC conference with a two-hour keynote at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif., outlining what the company has in store for the year ahead. Nvidia has historically used the show to debut some of its biggest products.
In 2022, the company announced its Hopper graphics architecture and H100 graphics processing unit. This is now the go-to card for companies training and deploying AI models. This year, Nvidia is widely expected to debut Hopper and his H100 successor, kicking off what could be a new rush of the company’s products.
The new architecture, codenamed Blackwell, and GPU, called B100, are expected to offer much better performance when running models like OpenAI’s GPT-3. Nvidia isn’t hiding his B100 plans. During the Supercomputer 2023 conference, the company showed off slides outlining the potential capabilities of its GPU compared to its H100 and H200 cards.
In addition to the Blackwell architecture and B100 cards, Nvidia will introduce attendees and viewers to the latest advancements in CUDA software.
The platform, which enables programmers to harness GPU processing power for AI and other applications, is an important part of Nvidia’s overall corporate strategy and empowers developers to build on Nvidia’s software. Nvidia may also announce that it will start producing H20 AI chips for the Chinese market. According to Reuters, the chip is intended to serve as a replacement for Nvidia’s more powerful H100 and H200 chips. The United States has prohibited Nvidia from selling these chips to Chinese customers, fearing that the Chinese military or government will use them to develop advanced AI applications to rival those in the United States. .

Approximately 300 exhibitors are expected to attend the conference, including OpenAI Chief Operating Officer Brad Lightcap, Meta’s Vice President of AI Research Joel Pineau, and Microsoft’s Vice President of Generative AI.
