Former First Lady Michelle Obama spoke on the second night of the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday, and just like her time at the White House, the internet was intrigued by her outfit.
Women’s Wear Daily reported that the “futuristic vibe” came from luxury fashion brand Monse’s Resort 2025 collection, which Vogue also covered, and which apparently included Obama’s belted, crisscrossed sleeveless jacket and matching trousers.
Obama’s husband’s speech also touched on the topic of fashion, with the former president joking about his running mate Tim Walz’s attire, saying, “The flannel shirt he’s wearing isn’t something a political consultant would wear. It’s from his closet, and a lot has happened to it.”

Michelle Obama criticizes Donald Trump, urges crowd to ‘do something’
Obama used her speech to directly and indirectly criticize Republican nominee Donald Trump, calling out his birtherism and missteps during the COVID-19 pandemic. The speech was a fairly direct one for a former First Lady who once famously said, “When they go low, we go high.”
“Who’s to say that the job President Trump wants might be one of those ‘black jobs,'” Obama said.
The former first lady argued that Kamala Harris is one of the most qualified people to serve in the presidency, drawing parallels between the experiences of Harris’ mother and her own, who passed away in May.
In his speech, President Obama transformed the phrase “do something” into a call-and-response chorus, trying to urge moderate Democrats to get involved in the November election.
“She’s a most dignified candidate,” she said. “This is a tribute to her mother, my mother and your mother too.”
