MTN Ghana explained in a statement that the service interruption was the result of an issue with the international submarine cable.
The company’s technical team works with international partners to quickly resolve issues.
MTN Ghana’s statement said, “We deeply regret the inconvenience caused and are committed to continuing to provide information to our subscribers in order to resolve the issue.”

Telecel Ghana has multiple internet service sources via subsea fiber links to SAT3, WACS, ACE, and other international providers.
On March 12, 2024, Telecel Ghana lost the internet capacity provided by the WACS submarine cable and immediately switched to ACE to maintain service.
On March 14, 2024, Telecel Ghana lost internet connectivity from its remaining providers, SAT3 and ACE, due to a submarine cable cut. This disrupted data services on mobile and fixed networks.
Telecel Ghana is currently securing new internet capacity and is gradually adding capacity through local and international partners, including other Telecel subsidiaries. This is in addition to local caching solutions that allow access to some content services such as YouTube, Facebook, and Netflix.
