Verizon certainly knows how to grab your attention. Every year on MAR10 Day (March 10th), Nintendo celebrates the Mario series with special sales and promotions. This year, Verizon decided to jump on the bandwagon by offering customers who sign up for their Home Plus internet plan a free Nintendo Switch. Plus, you’ll receive a $200 Target e-gift card or a Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Go. While this is a very attractive promotion, it may not be for everyone and there are some caveats to keep in mind.
The most important thing to note is that not all homes have access to Verizon Home Plus Internet. You can see if the service is available at your address by connecting it to Verizon’s search bar. To qualify for the promotion, you must have the option to sign up for 5G Home Plus or LTE Home Plus. A 5G Home Plus internet plan costs $80 per month ($70 with automatic payments) or $45 for existing Verizon Mobile customers. LTE Home Plus has the same price but doesn’t have the same top speeds as 5G Home Plus. Reception speeds and plans vary depending on your address.
How to get a free Nintendo Switch from Verizon
To use Nintendo Switch, you must be a new Verizon Home Internet customer. If you are tied to a contract with your current internet provider, Verizon will cover an early cancellation fee of up to $500. The Nintendo Switch deal is available through the end of March or until Verizon runs out of Nintendo Switch.
You must keep your Internet plan active for 65 days. At that time, you will have a 60-day grace period to redeem your Nintendo Switch (or until August 31, 2024, whichever comes first). At that point, you’ll need to keep your plan for 180 days before Verizon can cancel without charging you $299.99 for your gaming system.
Receive $200 to spend at Target or a free laptop
What’s even better about this deal is that you can choose between a $200 Target e-gift card or a Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Go. Both of these promotions last a little longer than the Nintendo Switch offer, with an expiry date of April 10th.
If you’re interested in a $200 Target e-gift card, you’ll need to follow the same rules as the Switch, but you have until September 10th to claim your prize. It will be emailed to you within 48 hours of registering with Verizon. If you choose the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Go, the rules are the same, but that giveaway also gives you the option to choose Fios 1 Gig or Fios 2 Gig internet service (but if you choose Fios, you won’t get the free Nintendo service).
