Mobile network operator and internet service provider Ucom has selected Nokia to upgrade its nationwide RAN and prepare for the future deployment of 5G services in Armenia.
Nokia will upgrade Ucom’s core and IP network infrastructure to support faster data speeds and increased capacity.
As part of the agreement, Nokia will supply equipment from its 5G AirScale portfolio powered by Energy ReefShark system-on-chip technology.
Nokia offers the MantaRay network management system, which integrates network views to improve network monitoring and management with built-in AI capabilities.

Ucom will also use Nokia’s solutions, including the Cloud Packet Core Portfolio, Cloud Operations Manager, Shared Data Layer and Subscriber Data Management, Policy Controller and Mediation for the Mobile Core Network, Telephony Application Server, CFX-5000, Session We plan to incorporate technologies such as Border controller for voice core network.
The solution also includes IP routers for access, aggregation, backhaul and core, which were also deployed by Balitower, an Indonesian network infrastructure provider.
