A big fluffy toddler is TikTok’s newest golden girl.
One-year-old Evelyn May is the perfect hair model. Her mother Autumn Mathas and his grandmother Trina King are both hairstylists. So when Evelyn May was scheduled to get her first haircut last week, she was in good hands.
At the salon, Ms. King, 52, reminisced about her days in cosmetology school, when she learned how to create “wet set” hairstyles.
“That’s when you put gel in your hair and wrap it in little rollers and (set it) with a blow dryer,” King told TODAY.com. “When you’re done, I’ll tease it to smooth it out.”
With the blessing of his mother, Mathus, King decided to try the wet set on Evelyn May. “It was like she was riding a bike,” she says.
King liked her granddaughter’s hair so much that she posted videos of her on TikTok, and then another. Everyone in the comments section got the joke.

Evelyn Mae’s videos have been viewed millions of times. “I didn’t expect that,” King said. “You made so many people happy.”
King says Evelyn May needs to be in the right mood to style her.
“We have to make sure she’s in a good mood, that she’s full and that she’s napping,” King said, adding that YouTuber Rachel gave Evelyn May a 20-minute treatment session. He added that he was a “savior” who let him sit.
In her video, Evelyn May strolls down the sidewalk, wears a purple sparkly top, drives a toy car, and carries a purse containing Welter’s Original and Strawberry Bon Bon candies. . Evelyn May also makes landline calls, delivers baked goods and delivers birthday cards with cash. Her favorite perfumes are Elizabeth Her Taylor Taylor White Her Diamond.
King said she read a TikTok message about how Evelyn May’s videos are encouraging people who have lost grandparents or parents.
“A woman wrote me a personal message that brought tears to my eyes,” King said. “She was struggling with the death of her mother…[then]asked her mom for an autograph… She opened TikTok and signed[Evelyn May’s]Werther Original, which is her mom’s favorite candy. I found it.”
“That touched me,” King says.
Evelyn May has yet to step into the community with her hair. Her next stop is a local grocery store.
“We have a lot of ideas for videos,” King says. “What a fun ride.”
