There are some very unpleasant websites on the Internet that can make you question how secure your information actually is.
Perhaps even more creepily, there are websites where you can view live feeds from surveillance cameras around the world. Apparently the owner of the camera doesn’t know anything.
Does it send shivers down your spine?
What’s worse, none of these cameras have been hacked. According to the website, camera feeds are not secured in any way.
The website is called Insecam.org and streams live feeds from online surveillance security cameras around the world that are not password protected.
The site claims that it only collects “network surveillance security cameras” and not “PC USB cameras or laptop built-in cameras.” If that makes you feel better.
A quick search on the website turned up footage of a swallow’s nest in Hungary, a ski resort in Austria, and a corner store and ice rink in Poland.
Naturally, there are big privacy concerns here, but the site says that if you send an email, the camera footage will be deleted.
Of course, most people don’t know their footage is there in the first place.
Setting a password can also easily remove you from Insecam. This only takes a minute.
The creepiest thing about this website is that accessing the camera footage is not explicitly illegal unless the password is hacked.
Basically, Insecam.org is completely legal.
How frightening that so many people have been exposed on Insecam due to lack of security measures.
You can never be too careful.
Other creepy websites featured in the video include one that details every plane crash in history, with the pilot’s last words recorded.
Long story short, if you’re feeling a little morbid, there’s definitely a weird website out there for you.
Just come back and set a password on your security camera.
