A video of a man lovingly protecting his puppy with an umbrella as he walked with his puppy on a rainy day in New York City has melted hearts.
This video posted on TikTok by @daniellehendrickss has been viewed over 6 million times.
In the video, a man and his small golden retriever puppy walk down a rainy road, holding up an umbrella to protect the dog.
Some dogs love water in all its forms, while others hate getting wet. Therefore, rainy days can be a little difficult.
Thankfully, there are many options to help dogs who hate the rain. Also, you don’t necessarily have to give up your umbrella.
Dog raincoats and waterproof pet gear are a great way to protect your dog from the rain. Positive reinforcement can also encourage your dog to go outside, even if the weather isn’t ideal.
The gesture struck a chord with people online, and the dog walker quickly became a fan of dog walkers.
A caption next to the video read: “To the boy walking in the West Village, I’m free on Monday if you’re here.”
Meanwhile, a text overlay jokingly implored the return of a “missing” man and his dog.
A series of comments on the viral video proves that the person who posted the video wasn’t the only one who felt that way.
“We have to stop falling in love with strangers on the internet,” Helen May said.
Baby Pineapples empathizes with the owners, saying, “If you’ve ever had a dog that refuses to go to the bathroom in the rain, you can understand this level of obsession.”
Some people were happy that the dogs looked happy thanks to their owners’ actions. Viewer Liz Caterina said: “The dog looks very happy.”
However, the internet’s hopes for romance were dashed when it was revealed that the man in the video already had a girlfriend. This golden retriever, affectionately named Millie, has her own social media account @millieinthecity_ on her Instagram.
The account, run by the couple who owns the dog, features the puppy, who just arrived two weeks ago, and already has more than 1,000 followers.
Their account also shared a video of Millie herself reacting to her new viral fame on TikTok, and the man in the video, Owen, told his new followers a little more about Millie.
“This is Millie Girl,” he said in a recent video. “And she’s treated like a princess all day every day.”
“I would like to really thank everyone for their kind words,” he added.
